Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson at AEW Wrestle Dream and once again became the AEW World Heavyweight Champion. That wasn’t originally the plan, though.
It has been reported that Jon Moxley wasn’t originally slated to win the AEW World Championship at Wrestle Dream. Both Bryan Danielson and co AEW Superstar, Darby Allin are from the Washington area. With that being said it’s rumored that the original plans for the main event at Wrestle Dream called for Darby Allin taking on Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship since they’re both from the Washington area.
Plans then changed. Once Jon Moxley became heel and led attacks on Bryan Danielson by himself and the Blackpool Combat Club at AEW All Out 2024, which led AEW in the direction of getting as much heat on Moxley as possible. Dave Meltzer is reporting that along with getting as much heat on Moxley and the rest of the BBC faction, the hope is with Moxley at the top of AEW right now it would help getting people in seats in arenas, and getting viewership numbers up on television.
